Authorities attempted to serve an arrest warrant to actor Ken Chan at his residence in Quezon City on Friday, but he was no longer there.
According to a report by RH Val Gonzales, the pending arrest warrant was issued by the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office in connection with a syndicated estafa case involving Chan and seven other alleged accomplices.
Attorney Joseph Noel Estrada, representing one of the victims, stated that Chan’s group allegedly defrauded his client of approximately 14 million pesos in a supposed restaurant investment scam.
"Ngayong umaga ay nagserve lang ng warrant of arrest. Triny na iserve pero wala na siya dito," said Estrada.
"Dumaan naman po ito sa preliminary investigation at nakitaan naman po ng basehan na maisampa sa korte kaya siguro harapain nalang ang kaso," he added.
Estrada added that more complainants are considering filing cases against Chan's group.
Authorities previously attempted to serve the warrant in September, but the actor was also absent at that time.
Meanwhile, the total amount allegedly taken by the group remains unclear.
Chan was reportedly already out of the country.
