President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. has declared April 21, Friday, a regular holiday nationwide in observance of Eid’l Fitr or the Islamic Feast of Ramadan.

This was stipulated under Proclamation No. 201 that was issued on Friday evening, April 14.

According to the issuance, the declaration was based on the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF).

"And in order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid'l Fitr of national consciousness, and to allow the entire Filipino nation to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid'l Fitr, it is necessary to declare February 21, April 2023, a regular holiday throughout the country," it stated.

The order was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
