Anthony Edwards feels confident that Team USA can also sweep the second round of the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
After winning all three games in the first round, the Minnesotta Timberwolves guard declared that Team USA will also emerge victorious against Lithuania, and Montenegro.
"I think we are going to win," Edwards said in a press conference after USA beat Jordan, 110-62 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Wednesday, August 30.
"I think we have a great chance of winning. We have a great coaching staff, we have great players, our confidence is in an all time high. We are not really worried," he explained.
However, Team USA head coach Steve Kerr voiced caution, saying that he expects that the game will get tougher in the second round of the tournament.
Kerr stressed that, out of the initial 32 countries, only the 16 "best" teams remain in contention for the World Cup title.
"We know that the competition is about to get tougher," he said.
"We get to the second round, you know, the teams go from the 32 to 16. You got the best teams now. We are going to have to play really well in order to win," Kerr added.
The five-time World Cup champions will go up against Montenegro on Friday, September 1, and Lithuania on Sunday, September 3.
Both games will happen at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
