Maynilad Water Services Inc reported on Monday a rise in the water level at Angat Dam.

At 5 a.m., the water level was measured at 180.78 meters, showing an increase from the previous measurement of 180.58 meters on Sunday. This rise in water level exceeded the minimum operating level requirement of 180 meters.

Additionally, there was a slight increase in the water level at Ipo Dam, reaching 99.40 meters on Sunday compared to the previous measurement of 99.54 meters. However, it still remained below the maintaining level of 101 meters.

Due to rainfall

Maynilad stated that the water elevation at Angat Dam continues to increase due to the persistent rainfall experienced over the past week.

"Unti-unti pa ring tumataas ang water elevation sa Angat Dam dahil na rin sa mga pag-ulan nitong nakaraang linggo," the water services said in a statement.

As a result of this situation, scheduled daily water service interruptions in certain areas of Caloocan, Malabon, Manila, Navotas, Quezon City, and Valenzuela have been temporarily suspended until further notice.

However, despite the increase in water levels, the presence of El Niño in the country could potentially affect future rainfall and the replenishment of these dams.

"Gayunpaman, may El Niño pa rin na umiiral sa ating bansa na posibleng maging dahilan upang mabawasan ang mga pag-ulan na makaka-replenish sa nasabing mga dam," it added.

"Kaya naman patuloy pa ring hinihikayat ang lahat na makiisa sa masinop na paggamit ng tubig para ang supply ay lalong mapalawig," it said.
