

The Philippines now has three weightlifters who qualified for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) confirmed on Wednesday, April 3, that Elreen Ando became the latest athlete of the country to book a ticket to the Paris Games.
Ando finished at seventh place in the women's 59 kilogram category of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Cup in Phuket, Thailand after she lifted a total weight of 228 kilograms.
THe 25-year old Filipina weightlifter registered 100 kilograms in the snatch portion of the tournament, while she lifted 128 kilograms in the clean-and-jerk category.
"Ando will be making a comeback to the quadrennial meet after lifting a total of 228kg and making it to the top 10 of the Olympic Qualification Ranking of the women's 59kg class," PSC said in a Facebook post.
Aside from Ando, weightlifters John Ceniza and Rosegie Ramos have also earned a ticket to the Paris Games.
Ceniza will compete in the men's 61 kilograms category while Ramos will target a podium finish in the women's 49 kilograms weightlifting event of the quadrennial sports event that will formally open on July 26
