Ana Ofelia Murguía, the voice actor behind the great-grandmother Mama Coco in Disney’s “Coco”, died on Monday, Jan. 1. She was 90 years old.

Mexico’s National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature said Murguía's artistic career was “vital” to the country’s performing arts.

"With deep sadness we regret the sensitive death of the leading actress Ana Ofelia Murguía, who was part of the stable cast of the National Theater Company of Mexico, and whose artistic career was vital for the performing arts of Mexico," the institution said.

One of the most notable scenes in the animated film “Coco” was when Mama Coco and her great-grandson Miguel sang “Remember Me” together.
