by Christhel Cuazon05 November 2022

The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) has confirmed that an amount worth PHP 550,000 was deposited to the account of Joel Escorial, the alleged self-confessed gunman in the Percy Lapid slay case, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said Saturday.

In a radio interview, Remulla said the PHP 550,000 was deposited in tranches within a three-week period.

"Kahapon, yung report ng AMLC, nilabas din nila na 'yung sinabi ni gunman Escorial ay very accurate. Nandoon talaga 'yung P550,000 deposit within a certain amount of days," Remulla said.

"Maraming deposit 'yan within a span of more than two weeks eh, within a three-week period. Parang ganu'n eh, within a 20-day period," he continued.

Remulla added that the amount was deposited by different individuals, noting that the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will be explaining the matter on Monday.

Lapid, whose real name is Percival Mabasa and host of online broadcast program "Percy Lapid Fire" at DWBL 1242, was shot dead while on his way home in Barangay Talon Dos, Las Piñas City, on October 3.
