The American man who previously made headlines on social media for living inside Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has officially left the country, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Sunday.
BI records show that the 76-year-old man arrived in the Philippines from Bangkok on January 31.
"He was reported by airport authorities to be living inside the NAIA Terminal 3, saying that hotels are expensive," the BI said in a press release.
The American had earlier told the media that he was a victim of theft but still had some remaining cash.
During his stay at the airport, he reportedly survived on handouts from airport workers and passengers.
His situation was reported to the U.S. Embassy in Manila, which initiated assistance for him.
Meanwhile, the BI said the man did not overstay his visa. He departed for Bangkok on February 22.
