Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) alumnus Steve Dailisan, the head of AirAsia's Communications and Public Affairs, said his alma mater fosters determination, diligence, and humility among students.
Dailisan credited these traits as the reason why employers like to hire graduates of the state university.
"Kasi yung mga katangian na iyon taglay nila and, at the same time, talagang pursigido na umasenso sa buhay," Dailisan said during DZRH's Magandang Umaga Pilipinas.
He also said that PUP alumni strive to excel since they know that the public pays for their tuition through taxes.
"Yung nagpapaaral sa iyo yung sambayanan, yung taxpayers' money, kaya kailangan suklian mo iyon ng sipag at tiyaga," Dailisan stressed.
A survey conducted by the employment platform JobStreet Philippines showed that employers prefer hiring new hires who graduated from PUP compared to other universities.
JobStreet Philippines said that 23.39 percent of employers want applicants from PUP followed by the University of the Philippines (9.17 percent), and the De La Salle University (6.88 percent).
