The Manila Local Government has announced that Manila North and Manila South cemeteries are open on Monday, October 31.

This comes after Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna announced the temporary closure of the public cemeteries for two days, October 29 and October 30, due to Severe Tropical Storm Paeng.

The Manila LGU said that they want to make sure that the cemeteries are clean and safe for families who want to visit the graves of their loved ones.

In a report by RH Boy Gonzales, children 12 years old and below are only allowed to enter if they have their vaccination card, while the ‘no face mask, no entry’ policy is strictly implemented in all cemeteries in Manila upon entry.

Manila North and Manila South cemeteries are open only from 5 am to 5 pm.

Manila Police District Director General Andre Dizon reminded the public to not bring fork and spoon as much as possible but disposables instead, for their packed lunch.

Sharp objects and pets are also not allowed inside, he added.

Starting November 1, authorities are expecting a high volume of visitors following the two-day closure.
