After a protracted hiatus caused by the pandemic, the most awaited comeback of the grandest festival in the Philippines is about to begin as Aliwan Fiesta has already released its list of participants for this year’s street dance and float competition.
Like in previous years, the feeling of excitement is irresistible as it is still a “festival of champions,” showcasing amazing costumes and choreographies of street dance and artistic crafts of the float parade.
The contingents who will be competing in this year’s street dance championship are:
- Panagbenga Fetival of Bagio City Benguet
- Ayat Festival of the Province of La Union
- Binabayani Festival of Masinloc, Zambales
- Dinamulag Mango Festival of the Province of Zambales
- Halaman Festival of Guiguinto, Bulacan
- Antipolo Maytime Festival of Antipolo City
- Hamaka Festival of Taytay, Rizal
- Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo
- Kadalag-an Festival of Victoria, Negros Occidental
- Manggahan Festival of Guimaras
- Sinulog Festival of Cebu
- Saduratan Festival of Buldon Maguindanao Del Norte
- Kangga Festival of Mogpog Marinduque.
On the other hand, 13 are also listed for the float competition including:
- Salakab Float of Muntinlupa City
- Lapat Float of Calansan, Apayao
- Panagbenga Flower Festival of Baguio City
- Halaman Festival of Guiguinto, Bulacan
- Kangga Festival of Mogpog, Marinduque
- Tagultol Fishing Festival of Atimonan, Quezon

The Dance Parade Competition will be scored according to the following criteria: theme/concept (35%), choreography (20%), performance (20%), costume (15%), and props (10%).
The grand prize winner will receive a cash prize of P1.5 million, while the runners-up, third, fourth, and fifth place winners will each earn P750,000, P300,000, and P100,000. Each of the five runners-ups will also receive P50,000.
For the float competition, the grand winner will receive P750,000, 2nd place with P300,000, and 3rd place with P100,000 while seven runners-up will receive P25,000 each.
Criteria for the judging of floats will be craftsmanship (50%), Theme (25%), and overall impact/ingenuity (25 percent).
The competition and parade will happen on July 15, Saturday at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Grounds, Pasay City, Manila.
