The Indonesian Immigration authorities confirmed that fugitive and dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo was arrested in Indonesia on Tuesday, September 3.
According to information obtained by DZRH News, Guo, also known as Guo Hua Ping, was arrested at 1:30 a.m. in Tangerang City, Jakarta, Indonesia.
Guo is reportedly now in the custody of the Indonesian Police's Jatanras Mabes Polri.
Meanwhile, the Philippines' Department of Justice affirmed its commitment to pursuing justice and will continue to coordinate closely with Indonesian authorities to facilitate the necessary legal procedures.
"The arrest of Alice Guo is a testament to the tireless efforts of our law enforcement agencies and the strength of international cooperation in bringing fugitives to justice. We will ensure that all legal processes are followed to hold her accountable for any crimes committed," Secretary of Justice Boying Remulla said.
On August 16, Senator Risa Hontiveros disclosed that Guo had already fled the country and traveled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 18. Hontiveros added that Guo also flew to Singapore to meet with her parents, Lin Wen Yi and Guo Jian Zhong.
In an exclusive interview with DZRH on August 27, Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said that Guo was already in Jakarta, Indonesia, and being closely monitored by foreign counterparts.
