Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala has made history once again, becoming the first Filipino player ever to break into the Top 50 of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) world rankings.

The 20-year-old climbed to No. 50 in the latest WTA rankings, marking a major career milestone and a proud moment for Philippine tennis.

According to her WTA player profile, Eala has consistently improved her game over the past year, earning career-best results across various international tournaments with 40 wins and 26 losses.

Her breakthrough moment came during the 2025 U.S. Open, where she made Philippine tennis history by advancing deep into the competition — a feat that earned widespread recognition and valuable ranking points.

That memorable U.S. Open run showcased Eala’s trademark composure and powerful baseline play, thrilling crowds and solidifying her reputation as one of the sport’s promising young talents.

With her entry into the Top 50, Eala not only cements her place among the world’s elite players but also paves the way for future generations of Filipino athletes aiming to make their mark on the global stage.

Eala is set to represent the Philippines in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games to be held in Thailand this December.
