The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has announced the escalation of the crisis status in Sudan to Alert Level 3 due to the ongoing conflict in the region.
"The public is informed that Alert Level 3 (Voluntary Repatriation Evacuation) has been raised for the whole of the Sudan region due to the ongoing political situation in the country," it said.
The public has been assured that the Philippine Embassy in Cairo is keeping a watchful eye on the situation and actively aiding the repatriation of Filipinos in Sudan.
As part of the alert level measures, voluntary repatriation and evacuation of Filipinos will be implemented to ensure their safety.
This follows the recent evacuation of over 300 Filipinos amidst the ongoing ceasefire between warring factions.
The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) agreed to a three-day ceasefire starting from midnight on April 24, following intense negotiations.
However, despite the ceasefire, the Philippine Embassy in Egypt urged Filipinos in Sudan to stay indoors as gunfire and bombings continue to occur in nearby areas.
