Alert Level 3 prevails over Kanlaon Volcano, as it continues to generate voluminous ash plumes from the summit crater, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS - DOST) said in its social media update.
At 11:52 AM on Monday, April 14, the Kanlaon volcano began emitting ash as tall as 800m from the summit crater. According to PHIVOLCS-DOST’s update, the ash drifted west-northwest of the volcano.
Moreover, the report by RH 46 Rex Cantong stated that PHIVOLCS-DOST’s resident volcanologist Mari Andylene Quinta said they are monitoring the ash emission and ash fall from the volcano.
She added that since its explosive eruption from April 8 until April 13, there are no recorded ash emission events at Kanlaon volcano.
Residents from La Carlota City, Bago City, and other nearby towns are reminded about the expected ash fall, as Alert Level 3 (intensified unrest/magmatic unrest) prevails over the volcano.
Meanwhile, the report mentioned that local government units (LGUs) near the volcano did not provide any additional information on the situation.
