Remember the 5-year-old girl in 2022 who made history as the youngest Filipino world champion in jiu-jitsu? Well, she did it again this year, now becoming a two-time world champion!
Aleia Aielle Aguilar, now 6, clinched her second straight tile as the youngest Filipino world champion in jiu-jitsu after beating Maitha Faraj in the gold medal match Wednesday at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship in the United Arab Emirates.
In a Facebook post, her father, Alvin Aguilar, one of the country’s pillar in the mixed martial arts community, expressed his joy in the new feat of their baby girl.
"Congratulations to my baby girl Aleia Aielle M. Aguilar for becoming a TWO TIME WORLD CHAMPION at the Abu Dhabi Pro World Championships at only 6 years old!!!. All of your hard work, discipline and initiative to always do your best paid off once again!! We are all so proud of you!!"
Aleia made history after becoming the youngest Filipino world champion in November 2022.
