A five-year-old girl makes history as the youngest Filipino world champion in jiu-jitsu.

In a Facebook post of his father Alvin Aguilar, Aleia Aielle Aguilar won the gold medal in the Kids 1 Girls White Belt 16kg-B category at the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Festival on Friday, November 11.

Aleia defeated Gabriela Vercosa of Brazil in the finals match.

The 5-year-old is the daughter of Aguilar, founder of the Philippine Mixed Martial Art and Asian Champion in Tokyo, and former world jiu-jitsu champion Maybelline Masuda.

"Very happy to announce that our country now has its youngest ever WORLD CHAMPION AIELLE AGUILAR !!! She won all of her matches in the WORLD PROFESSIONAL League in Abu Dhabi!!!" he said in his post.

"We are all SO PROUD of you. Even at such a young age you are already so organized and hard working in everything you do. From academics to sports you always excel because you always work hard."
