The Women's Alas Pilipinas did not disappoint the enthusiastic support of Filipino fans in their final group stage match against Chinese Taipei, winning decisively with scores of 25-13, 25-21, and 25-18.
The Nationals continued their impressive performance by sweeping their opponents in the AVC Challenge Cup for Women held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium last night.
Eya Laure led the Philippine team with 14 points, which included 12 attacks, 1 block, and an ace. Vanie Gandler also contributed significantly, adding 12 points to the scoreboard.
With this victory, Alas Pilipinas completed a perfect run, having also swept Pool A with wins against teams from Iran, India, and Australia.
Australia will join the Philippines in the semifinals as the second-best team in Pool A, with 3 wins and 1 loss.
Alas Pilipinas is set to face Kazakhstan in the semifinals on May 28, while Australia will take on Vietnam.
