The local government unit (LGU) of Malay, Aklan has prohibited the conduct of parties with loud music on the Island of Boracay from 6 am on Good Friday until 6 am on Black Saturday.
Based on Memorandum Order No. 2023-043, Malay acting Municipal Mayor Nino Carlos Cawaling directed the Business Permit and Licensing Office to not issue special permits for parties and activities to the management of Boracay.
The said memo order is pursuant to Sangguniang Bayan of Malay’s SB Resolution No. 15, series of 2009 which declared the non-issuance of special permits for parties and other activities during Good Friday.
The memorandum was signed and released on March 31.
Since Holy Monday, local and foreign tourists flock to Boracay Island for their long Holy Week break.
