Rosalinda Cellero, 41, received praise from the public after returning a huge amount of money at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Thursday, June 20.

According to Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), Cellero from Dear John Services Incorporated was doing her duty early Thursday when she noticed a pair of white socks under one of the benches at the Terminal 3 South final security checkpoint.

Cellero immediately turned over the foreign currency bills to the Lost and Found Section of the airport for proper disposition.

"We are delighted to have individuals like Rosalinda who exemplify strength of character and righteousness in the face of tempting situations," said MIAA General Manager Eric Jose Ines.

"Her action is a testament to the values we uphold in NAIA. Truly, there are angels in our midst," he added.

The MIAA said it already completed the review of the CCTV footage to establish the circumstances behind the incident.

The Airport Authority is still waiting for the owner of the money.

Cellero will be awarded in MIAA’s July flag-raising ceremony where she will be given a certificate of commendation.

The huge amount of money will be detected in X-ray -Ines

In an exclusive interview during Dos Por Dos on Friday, Ines said above $10,000 bills are prohibited upon departing the country and must inform the Bureau of Customs first.

Ines suspected that the bills may not pass the final X-ray as the detectors will see it.

"Maaaring hindi dumaan sa final x-ray dahil makikita 'yan ng mga detector. Pagkatapos ng immigration, final security check 'yun then departure area. Nakita po ata ito [medyas] sa southwing na international," the MIAA General manager said.

He said they would turn-over the money to the Bureau of Treasury if no one claimed it within one week.
