The daughter of Vice President Leni Robredo, Aika, has sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in probing the fake lew videos of her spreading online.
On Thursday, Robredo's camp said in a statement that Aika, through a lawyer, requested assistance from Atty Michelle Valdez, officer-in-charge of the NBI Cybercrime Division, for the investigation of possible cybercrimes and violations of special criminal laws and the Revised Penal Code in the spread of the videos.
Their camp also asked NBI to authenticate and track the source of the 60 URLs that showed fabricated videos of Robredo.
"Your good office has the necessary tools and equipment to identify the first post, the username(s) and/or accounts, the sites or links and the IP addresses, and the identity/ies of the perpetrator(s)," said Robredo in a letter dated on April 18 stated.
The links, which started to circulate online earlier in April, were later found to have not been lewd videos. They instead link to foreign adult sites.
Earlier, the Vice President issued a statement claiming that the smear campaign against her family could possibly be from the camp of her opponent, former senator Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.
In an ambush interview on one of her campaign sorties last week, Robredo affirmatively answered the question of whether the misleading social media posts about her family and the fake pornographic content of her daughter came from the Marcos camp.
"Oo naman. Kasi ginawa na niya 'yan sa akin noong 2016. Consistently ginagawa 'yan sa akin nu'ng nag-pick up iyong numbers ko noong 2016 election. Noong hindi pa nagpi-pick up iyong numbers ko, hindi naman ako pinapansin. Nu'ng nag-pick up, nasa receiving end na ako ng lahat ng kasinungalingan," said Robredo, who won against Marcos during the 2016 vice presidential elections by 263,473 votes.
