The Department of Agriculture (DA) reported that the estimated worth of agriculture damage is now Php 1.13 billion, a huge increase from the reported Php 19 million last Thursday.
In its latest situational report issued on Friday, Aug. 26, at 3 pm, there are 6,647 farmers affected, with 66,633 metric tons of production loss, and a total of 44,922 hectares of agricultural areas in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Bicol Region.
Corn is now the most affected commodity with a volume loss of 60,843 metric tons, worth Php 1.02 billion in 33,730 hectares affected.
While rice crops increased to 5,114 metric tons volume loss, worth Php 82.83 million in 11,004 hectares affected.
The high-value crops or assorted vegetables, spices, and legumes had a huge increase with a recorded 676 metric tons volume loss, worth Php 20.43 million in 188 hectares affected.
In the previous situational report released on Thursday, the high-value crops only had a record of 3 metric tons volume loss worth Php 81,000.
About 121 chicken, carabao, goat, and duck were slain, the report said. It has a total value of Php 5 million.
The agriculture department noted that the values presented in the Friday situational report are subject to validation.
