Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. emphasized the military's mandate to protect the Constitution and uphold human rights.
Gen. Brawner conveyed this sentiment as the National Human Rights Consciousness Week commenced on the first Monday of December.
In his speech at Camp Aguinaldo, Brawner stated that preserving the dignity and fundamental rights of Filipinos is an integral part of the AFP’s mission.
Meanwhile, Commander-in-Chief President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. reminded the troops last week to stay focused and not be influenced by the political noise.
Marcos emphasized the importance of not being swayed by current events and remaining focused on their mission.
Brawner also cautioned military personnel that if they wish to get involved in political affairs, they should resign and take off their uniforms.
