The Armed Forces of the Philippines AFP) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) successfully completed their most recent rotation and resupply (RoRe) mission at Ayungin Shoal on Friday, November 15.

In a report by Edniel Parrosa, the initial report from the AFP Public Affairs Office, led by Col. Xerxes Trinidad, stated that 'no untoward incidents' occurred during the mission.

The AFP and PCG delivered new provisions and conducted a troop rotation for personnel assigned to the BRP Sierra Madre.

The RoRe mission was conducted on September 26 under the ongoing negotiations between the Philippines and China to de-escalate tensions in the West Philippine Sea.

In recent months, Chinese vessels, including coast guard ships and militia boats, have been frequently reported in the vicinity of Ayungin Shoal. These vessels have been involved in actions such as blocking Philippine supply boats attempting to resupply Filipino troops stationed on the BRP Sierra Madre.

Ayungin Shoal is located within the Philippines' exclusive economic zone (EEZ), but China has made extensive claims in the region as part of its "nine-dash line" assertion.
