The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) highlighted the potential strategic advantage that the Metro Manila Subway Project’s Camp Aguinaldo Station (MMSP-CAS) could offer to the military.
AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. explained that the subway station will enable the military to respond more efficiently in times of emergency.
Furthermore, the subway system is expected to provide the civilian staff and their families with improved access to reliable transit.
"This project is a bold statement to future generations. It tells them that we are not just addressing the present needs and challenges, but we are also laying firm foundations of a connected and sustainable future.” Gen. Brawner said.
Gen. Brawner made the statement after personally inspecting the launch of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) at the AFP headquarters on January 16.
Alongside Brawner at the machine launch were Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Philippine National Railways General Undersecretary Jeremy Regino, and Takema Sakamoto, Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Philippines.
Once the project is completed, Camp Aguinaldo will be part of the 17 stations of the Metro Manila Subway.
