The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sees no reason to raise its alert level amid the ongoing political noise in the country.

AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. assured that the situation remains under control, citing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s recent departure for a working visit to the United Arab Emirates as an example.

The Presidential Security Command (PSC) earlier raised a red alert following Vice President Sara Duterte's statement in which she allegedly admitted to hiring someone to kill President Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot against her succeeded.

If there is any alert within the military at the moment, Brawner stated that it is due to the series of typhoons that have hit the country in the previous months.

Hindi natin kailangan magtaas ng alert level dahil sa nangyayari sa pulitika. In fact, ‘yung ating pangulo ay umalis ng ating bansa, he went to the UAE. This is an indicator that things are normal at we are still in control," Brawner said in a ambush interview with the media on Wednesday.

In a speech yesterday, he firmly rejected former President Rodrigo Duterte's plea for the military to intervene and resolve what he called the "fractured governance" under Marcos Jr.'s leadership.

According to Brawner, the era of military adventurism is over, and this should be explained even to the trainees.

He also advised the soldiers to resign and take off their uniforms if they still want to involve themselves in politics. However, Brawner clarified that there is no longer a need for a loyalty check among the military personnel.
