The Armed Forces of the Philippines is investigating the alleged data breach involving the emails of the Philippine Navy and Philippine Army.
In an interview with DZRH, Col. Joey Fontiveros, the Commander of the AFP Cyber Command, stated that they can detect if an unauthorized entity has truly breached their system.
"We have the capability and we haven’t received the formal report regarding that," Fontiveros noted.
As of now, Fontiveros said that no functions within the AFP have been affected, despite claims from the group Philippine Exodus Security.
Fontiveros further assured the public that measures are being taken to ensure the safety and security of their systems and to safeguard all digital assets of the force.
Based on a social media post by local hackers, they claimed to have uncovered several confidential documents, internal memorandums, and information summaries from the mentioned major services.
They even warned that they would release more sensitive information if the military denies the alleged data breach.
In a separate message to DZRH, Navy Spokesperson Capt. John Percie Alcos assured that the military has already taken steps to ensure the integrity of their system while the investigation continues.
Meanwhile, Army Spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala distanced from the issue, stating that the reported claims are still being validated.
