The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) showed concern over the reinclusion of Chinese fishing vessels in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
In a report by Edniel Parrosa, the Aerial Patrol of the Philippine Air Force said that up to 30 Chinese fishing vessels were detected at Rozul Reef, Escoda Shoal, and Baragatan Bank.
The AFP is now in fear that the inflow of Chinese vessels may have implications for maritime security, fisheries conservation, and territorial integrity.
Additionally, the AFP Western Command warns that this may be a source of tension in the contested territory, and prior to WesComm’s aerial inspection, the Philippine Navy (PN) discovered that 22 CFVs were also standing around Rozul Reef on August 24.
This favorite area of CFV is part of the exclusive economic zone and continental shelf of the Philippines.
