A third-year Chemical Engineering student from Adamson University, who was earlier reported missing, was found dead in Imus, Cavite.
Interviewed during DZRH's Balansyado, Cavite Police officer-in-charge (OIC) Michael Batoctoy said the remains of the victim, identified as John Matthew Salilig, were found buried at a vacant lot in a subdivision in Malagasang, Imus City.
Mababaw lang," he said.
Batoctoy said a witness gave the exact location of the victim's body.
Salilig's brother confirmed that it was the latter's remains, the Cavite Police OIC added.
The cadaver of the third-year chemical engineering student is now in the Madriaga Funeral in Dasmariñas Cavite, according to Batoctoy.
Salilig has been reported missing since February 18.
According to earlier reports, he was allegedly a victim of fraternity hazing.
Meanwhile, Tau Gamma Phi, the Triskelions' Grand Fraternity of Imus City, condemned the killing of Salilig.
"Ito ay tahasang paglabag sa batas lalo na sa Republic Act No. 11053 o mas kilala bilang anti-hazing law, hindi makatao at labag ito sa aming paniniwala bilang kasapi ng Tau Gamma Phi," it said in a statement.
Tau Gamma Phi said it is willing to coordinate with the family of the slain engineering student in regard to the investigation.
