With Valentine’s only a day away, people are probably doing some last-minute shopping for their significant others. However, the latest report from the Social Weather Stations (SWS) found that "acts of service" is the most common of the five love languages in Filipinos.
The SWS survey from December 2024, found that 67% of adult Filipinos prefer to express their love through acts of service. Examples of the love language include cooking meals, running errands, helping out with chores, and fixing things around the house, even without being asked.
Following the acts of service, the survey found that 51% of Filipinos prefer words of affirmation and quality time.
Meanwhile, giving gifts was posted at 33%, while physical touch was at 29%.
If you’re wondering what people have on their Valentine’s wish list, the survey found that 19% of both men and women have love and companionship as the most wished-for Valentine’s gift.
It surpassed “any gift from the heart” at 9% and “flowers” at 8% for men. Meanwhile, women prefer "money" at 15% and "flowers" at 12%.
A Record Low
On another note, the SWS revealed that 46% of Filipinos said they were “very happy” with their romantic relationships. The latest percentage was 12 points lower compared to the 58% data from December 2023. The SWS furthered that the recent number was the lowest in 20 years, since 2004.
Meanwhile, 36% of Filipinos said they “could be happier,” while 18% said they “have no love life.”
The survey was conducted from December 12 to 18, 2024, using face-to-face interviews with Filipinos who are 18 years old and above, with a total of 2,160 adults nationwide.
