ABS-CBN Corp. announced on Thursday, December 4, 2025, that its content partnership with TV5 may come to an end after the Kapatid Network issued a notice of termination. The termination comes more than two years after the two networks signed a five-year content supply agreement.
In a statement addressed to its employees and supporters, ABS-CBN acknowledged receiving the notice but denied claims that it “willfully delayed payment” to TV5.
The company explained that it is still recovering from losses incurred after its shutdown and the non-renewal of its broadcast franchise in 2020, which occurred during the pandemic.
“Since losing our franchise in 2020—in the midst of a pandemic—we have faced challenges unlike any in our history. We’ve had to rebuild from the ground up, operating at a loss while staying true to our mission,” the statement read.
“These financial constraints are real, but they have never diminished our commitment to you,” as further added in the statement
ABS-CBN emphasized that, regardless of the outcome of the TV5 partnership, it remains committed to delivering services to its audience. “We will find ways to reach you, just as we found our way back to you after losing our franchise,” the network said.
The company said it is working to resolve the issue within the limited timeframe given and asked for understanding as it seeks to fulfill its financial obligations.
