The South China Morning Post has reported that the family of Hong Kong model Abby Choi will finally be able to lay her to rest in a proper funeral, almost three months after her brutal murder.

According to the report, her body parts were returned to her family in April after DNA examinations were conducted, and the funeral is set to take place on June 19, followed by cremation at a monastery in Lantau Island.

Her face will be recreated using 3D printing technology, which is a method that has been used in some funeral homes in China to repair "the wounds and scars left to their families".

The family has enlisted an overseas hi-tech firm to recreate Choi's face using resin, plaster, silicone, and fiber, before applying makeup and a wig to complete the process.

Choi was murdered in February after a financial dispute with her ex-husband's family.

Her remains were found dismembered, with a skull and two legs discovered at the crime scene.

Her ex-husband, Alex Kwong, was apprehended after attempting to flee the city by boat, along with his parents and elder brother.

Two other individuals are suspected of aiding the murderer, and a seventh person was also allegedly involved in the killing.

The accused are due to appear before a court in Kowloon City on July 31 for a third pretrial hearing.
