Abalos orders probe into potential 'Obstruction of Justice' cases over Quiboloy search

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) will be investigating individuals who are alleged to have deliberately misled the search for religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

In an interview at Camp Crame on Monday, DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos indicated that there is a significant possibility of ‘guilt’ in the obstruction of justice case, especially since some individuals were aware that Quiboloy was actually within the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound.

They are alleged to have intentionally spread misinformation, including about the location of Quiboloy and his four co-accused.

Abalos made the statement after the Philippine National Police (PNP) detailed in a press briefing how 500 SAF and 500 SWAT members cornered the wanted individuals inside the Bible school on the compound, ultimately forcing Quiboloy to surrender.

This, according to Abalos, proves that the police intelligence was accurate and that the accounts from other sides were merely made to disrupt the police operations being made.

Meanwhile, when asked if Vice President Sara Duterte is among those being investigated, Abalos simply laughed off her statement that Quiboloy was not in Davao City and might instead be in heaven.

"Ako simple lang, miski nasa langit hahanapin namin," Abalos said in an ambush interview after the press briefing.

"Pero ang sa akin lang is this, maraming indicators on the ground sa nakikita ko," he added.
