Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos maintains that the Temporary Protection Order issued by the Davao Regional Trial Court does not mandate halting the service of the arrest warrant against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
"K-klaruhin ko, walang nakalagay rito na pinapatigil ang search warrant," Abalos said during an exclusive interview with DZRH for Dos Por Dos segment on Wednesday.
"Walang sinasabing ‘ihinto niyo ang paghuli kay Quiboloy," he added.
Abalos assured that the Philippine National Police (PNP) will proceed with its operation to serve the arrest warrant for Quiboloy, who is believed to still be inside the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City.
However, he questions the prohibition on barricades, as he believes they do not pose a threat to life, liberty, or property.
Abalos emphasized the need for the public to understand the court order issued yesterday to prevent the spread of misinformation that could lead to further disturbances.
"This is a Temporary Protection Order, hindi po nito hinihinto ang pag=aresto, ang pag-hanap po kay Pastor Quiboloy," Abalos reiterated.
Sec. Abalos reported that the search for the religious leader is progressing well. He noted that the use of machinery and the presence of search dogs are proving to be helpful in the search efforts.
"Ito’y mahigit 30-hectare, napakalaki nito at punong-puno ng gusali at mayroon kaming nakita mga passage ways and structures," said Abalos.
He noted that they have detected signs of life underground; however, they remain cautious to avoid any potential complications.
"Dapat sa operasyon na ‘to, dapat ring ikonsidera ang safety ng bawat isa," Abalos stated.
When asked about the detailed updates provided by the PNP, Abalos said that it is up to the police to decide. He only instructed that non-sensitive updates be given to the public to help everyone understand the difficulty of the police's work.
He explained that sensitive details of the operation cannot be disclosed as they could impact the process.
Yesterday, Davao RTC Branch 15 issued a Temporary Protection Order, stating that the restrictions imposed by the PNP infringe on the religious rights of KOJC members.
