The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Monday, Nov. 20, reported that it recorded 9 deaths and 15 injuries after the magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
In its situational bulletin issued at 8 AM, one individual reportedly died in the Davao region and 8 persons in Soccsksargen.
Fifteen individuals were hurt, but no one went missing, NDRRMC said.
But the agency noted that the aforementioned numbers are up for validation.
NDRRMC also reported that 2,489 families or 12,885 individuals were affected by the strong earthquake.
No families or individuals are staying in evacuation centers.
The agency stated that 118 infrastructures sustained damage — 71 were infrastructures in Davao and 47 in Soccsksargen.
The quake also damaged a total of 826 houses in the aforementioned two regions. Of which, 729 were partially damaged and 97 were totally damaged.
Assistance worth ₱11,612,558 was provided to the affected residents. These are in the form of family food packs, family kits, and food items and financial assistance.
In an interview with DZRH, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) Director Teresito Bacolcol said they recorded 101 aftershocks after the killer quake.
Five of the 101 aftershocks were felt by residents, he said.
