A seven-year old child also perished in the fire that razed Brgy, Babag, Lapu-Lapu City on Monday, December 11.
Mark Bautista, officer-in-charge of the Lapu-Lapu City PIO, confirmed on Tuesday, December 12, that the death toll climbed up to five after the child passed away early morning.
"Yung seven-year old na bata ay kasama rin iyon sa nag-suffer ng third-degree burns," Bautista said during DZRH's Breaktime.
As peer reports, the blaze started after a firework went off at a firecracker factory, and spread to nearby houses.
Bautista confirmed that the fatalities include the owner of the said fireworks factory, Chito Berdin, and that the investigation shows that the establishment has the necessary permit to operate.
He added that five victims remain hospitalized, and two of them remain in critical condition.
