The Philippine Embassy in Israel confirmed on Monday, Oct. 9, that seven out of the 29 Filipinos reported missing remain unaccounted for since the unprecedented attacks by the militant group Hamas.

“Seven remain unaccounted for and cannot be contacted via their mobile numbers and social media accounts. The Embassy is working non-stop with Israeli security authorities and community contacts to ascertain their condition,” the Philippine Embassy in Israel said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.

“The Embassy will issue updates on the status of the above Filipinos as soon as additional verified information is received,” it added.

According to the Embassy, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) rescued 22 Filipinos and they were transferred to hotels at Tel Aviv.

One Filipino was sent to the hospital for treatment for moderate injuries while the other one was treated for smoke inhalation.

“Both [Filipinos] have been visited by the Embassy’s Labor Attaché and Welfare Officer who provided them with assistance and other essential supplies,” the Embassy’s state said.

Meanwhile, it asked Filipinos in Israel to heed its advice to remain in their respective homes and avoid unnecessary travel, seek shelter when the siren alert is sounded, monitor the security situation by looking at official advisories of the Israeli authorities, and coordinate with the Embassy and their respective community.

According to the live updates of CNN, the death toll due to the unprecedented attack by Hamas in Israel has reached 700.

Four hundred of the 700 were Palestinians who died in the Israeli military response.

Several government agencies have already also reached out to the Embassy regarding a contingency plan to help Filipinos in Israel.
