Seven passengers were rescued after a boat capsized in the vicinity waters off Isla Verde, Roxas, Palawan, on Friday afternoon, January 26, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported.

PCG said the passenger's motorboat capsized due to strong winds and rough seas while underway from Barangay Calandagan en route to Araceli, Palawan.

The rescued passengers were reportedly gone missing since Thursday, January 25.

At 12:15 PM, the passengers were rescued through PCG's search and rescue operation using the BRP Melchora Aquino (MRRV-9702).

Medical aid was also provided to the rescued individuals.

"They were transported to Puerto Princesa City and were turned over to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) for further assistance," the PCG said.
