A landslide triggered by Super Typhoon Pepito buried a house with a family inside in Sitio Hukhukyong, Barangay Labang, Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya, on Sunday, November 17.
According to the Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the incident resulted in seven fatalities, including an eight-year-old child and five others aged between 12 and 18. The house, which was home to two families, was engulfed by the landslide caused by heavy rains and saturated soil from the typhoon.
Three survivors, including a 40-year-old woman and a four-year-old child, were rescued and taken to the Region 2 Trauma and Medical Center for treatment.
The Philippine Red Cross conducted search, rescue, and retrieval operations on Monday, during which one individual was reported missing.
The PDRRMO assured that the victims' families would be provided with financial assistance.
Nueva Vizcaya experienced severe winds and heavy rainfall on Sunday, with PAGASA raising Wind Signal No. 4 over the area.
Typhoon Pepito left the Philippine Area of Responsibility by noon on Monday.
