Bureau of Immigration Officer-in-Charge Commissioner Joel Viado condemned the outright disregard for the country's immigration laws and promised a stronger effort to combat illegal alien activities. This statement comes after the apprehension of seven Chinese nationals aboard a vessel at Navotas port.

"This operation sends a strong message: the Philippines is not a playground for illegal aliens," Viado said.

"The BI, together with our partners like the Coast Guard, will continue to stand against foreign threats to our sovereignty,” he added.

On September 15, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) intercepted seven undocumented Chinese nationals aboard the M/V Sangko Uno, indicating their unlawful operation within Philippine waters

Charges against them include unlawful entry of foreign nationals and immigration offenses, filed on September 17 at the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office.

They were then transferred to the BI's facility in Camp Bagong Diwa on September 20.

Meanwhile, Viado commended the vigilance of the PCG in safeguarding the country's maritime boundaries that is deemed essential in intercepting illegal entrants.

"The PCG’s tireless work in patrolling our seas ensures that foreign syndicates do not illegally enter our country," said Viado.

The Chinese nationals will be facing deportation, which is being handled by the BI.
