HERO Foundation holds 6th golf tournament

The Help, Educate, and Rear Orphans (HERO) Foundation Inc. on Friday, March 3, held its "6th HERO Golf Cup 2023", an annual fundraising event for Filipino military orphans, at Camp Aguinaldo Golf Course in Quezon City.

In a press statement, HERO Foundation Inc. said the tournament's proceeds will fund the dependent siblings and children of soldiers who were slain or became permanently disabled during a mission or disaster relief operation.

The ceremonial tee-off was spearheaded by HERO Foundation Executive Director Victor Bayani, HERO Ambassadors actor Matteo Guidicelli, and Brian Poe Llamanzares.

Joining them are Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) representatives namely, Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel Maj. Gen. Jose Maria Cuerpo II PA and AFP Educational Benefit System Office (AFPEBSO) Chief Capt. Ariel Palisoc PN.

Since it was founded in 1988, HERO Foundation Inc. has supported 2,733 scholars.

Currently, the foundation caters to 262 scholars nationwide. Of these, 45 percent of scholars are from Mindanao, 37 percent from Luzon, 11 percent from Visayas, while seven percent are from the National Capital Region (NCR).

HERO Foundation Inc. is AFP's largest partner. Throughout the years, it has remained committed to assisting the loved ones of Filipino soldiers for them finish their education and become their family's future breadwinners.
