The Joint Task Force COVID Shield of the Philippine National Police (PNP) deployed around 6,800 police officers to man quarantine control points (QCPs) during the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine in Metro Manila.
PLtGen. Israel Dickson, commander of Joint Task Force COVID-19, said that 3,721 cops will manage the 361 QCPs, dedicated control points (DCPs), and checkpoints near the borders of the National Capital Region Plus Area, which compose of Metro Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna, and Rizal.
586 police officers, meanwhile, will be deployed at 34 QCPS, and 2,398 PNP personnel will man 244 law enforcement checkpoints.
Dickson also said that 30 personnel of the PHP - Highway Patrol Group will be assigned at DCPs.
Joint Task Force COVID Shield seeks to ensure that only authorized persons outside of residence can travel to and from Metro Manila, while the region is under the strictest community quarantine status from August 6 to August 20.
