The rains flooded almost 60 percent of the 569 barangays in Northern Samar province.
In an interview during DZRH's Public Service Hour on Tuesday, Nov. 2, Northern Samar Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) chief Rei Josiah assured that rescue operations continue in the affected barangays, expecially in hazard-prone areas.
"Habang tahimik si shearline, we are doing surgical emergency response operations," Echano said.
He identified Catarman, the capital of the province, as the most affected area by the severe floods.
"Lagi kaming binabaha pero ito yung pinakamalakas na ulan, in recent memory, na binuhos sa aming probinsya. Mas malaki ito sa normally na binubuhos sa isang buwan sa panahon ng November," Echano said.
Echano assured that Northern Samar - PDRRMO has yet to register a single casualty, and that the province has enough food supplies to last the evacuees for the next three to four days.
"Pero beyond that, sa tingin ko, mangangailangan na ng tulongang provincial government lalo na sa usapin ng immediate shelter, temporary shelter at iba pa," he said.
