The six policemen involved in the death of 17-year-old Jemboy Baltazar surrendered to the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on Thursday, October 5.

According to RH Val Gonzales' report, CIDG Police Maj. Gen. Romeo Caramat Jr. said the six cops voluntarily surrendered to their custody.

The yielding came after the Navotas City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 286 on Wednesdy issued an arrest warrant for the six officers as a result of the murder case that has been brought against them.

The six cops who are involved and are now under the CIDG's custody are the following:

  • PEMS Roberto Balais, Jr.
  • PSSG Gerry Maliban
  • PSSG Antonio Bugayong, Jr.
  • PSSG Nikko Pines Esquilon
  • PCPL Edmard Jose Blanco
  • PAT Benedict Mangada

Baltazar's death made headlines in August, stressing the lapses in police operations and incompetence inside the PNP.

All Navotas policemen who were involved in the incident, including its chief, PCol. Allan Umipig has been relieved of his post.
