Six individuals were killed and one was missing in the floods and landslides in Davao de Oro as of Friday, based on the data of the Davao de Oro Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO).
The fatalities were identified as Mimai Pagantupan, from Andap, New Bataan, who died from drowning; Jerlyn Lada, Virginia Buhian, and Andoy Ananias, all from Maragusan town and were victims of landslides; Marcilla Bantasan, from Compostela town who slipped and drowned in the river; and Junjun Romagos, from New Bataan who also died in a landslide.
A person was reported as missing in Pantukan, who was identified as Vicencio Mahinay after he was swept by a strong current.
In its latest report, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said 19,097 people or 4,840 families were affected by the effects of the trough of a low-pressure area in the Davao Region.
Of the affected population, 12,303 people, or 3,014 families were staying in 56 evacuation centers while 33 individuals or nine families were taking shelter in other places.
