At least six individuals died while 19 others went missing amid the continuous heavy rains and flooding in several areas in Visayas and Mindanao over the Christmas weekend, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Monday, Dec. 26.
In its 11 am situational report, the NDRRMC said the figures are still for validation but there were four reported deaths in Region 10 - Northern Mindanao and two in Region 5 - Bicol.
Also up for confirmation are the 10 individuals who were reported missing in Bicol and three in Northern Mindanao, as well as the two people from Northern Mindanao who reportedly sustained injuries.
The affected families climbed to 23,762, or 100,691 persons from the 18,407 families, or 80,142 individuals as reported by the Office of the Civil Defense in its 6 am situational bulletin earlier.
Of these, NDRRMC said 9,216 families or 44,672 individuals are situated inside 27 evacuation centers.
Only 7 families or 35 persons are staying outside the centers or seeking shelters with their relatives and friends.
The NDRRMC said 31 areas are still swamped with flooding in MIMAROPA, Region 5, Region 8, and Region 9.
At least 14 roads in Region were affected and not passable.
