Over 500,000 individuals, or the equivalent of 140,000 families in 1,756 barangays nationwide, have been affected by the combined effects of the recent typhoons Goring and Hanna, as well as the southwest monsoon, or Habagat, as reported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Sunday, September 3.
Based on the last record, a total of 3,251 individuals are still staying in 52 evacuation centers in the country, while 10,052 took shelter outside the evacuation centers.
Moreover, two casualties have already been reported, of which one is confirmed and the other is ‘for validation.’
The estimated cost of damage to agriculture was recorded at over P580 million, while the infrastructure had already reached P130 million.
Furthermore, it is reported that more than P33 million of assistance will be distributed to the affected families, which came from various local government units and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Meanwhile, the evacuation centers where the other families are staying at the moment are located in Regions 1, 2, and 6; Calabarzon; and MIMAROPA.
