The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday said five areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) were classified as moderate risk for COVID-19.
In a media briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the COVID-19 risk level has escalated in Pasig, San Juan, Quezon City, Marikina, and Pateros based on the two-week growth rate, average daily attack rate, and hospital utilization rate.
"Kapag tiningnan natin, ang kanilang mga growth rate ay lumalagpas ng 200% kasi nanggagaling sa mababang numero, biglang nagkaroon ng kaso kaya tumaas ang growth rate," Vergeire said during the Laging Handa briefing.
[If we look at it, the growth rate in these areas has surpassed 200% because from low numbers, cases suddenly increased.]
Of the five, only one recorded an increase in hospital utilization rate but the rest are "less than 50 percent".
"For now, escalation to Alert Level 2 hindi pa natin nakikita [we do not see it yet]. Although we cannot say kung by next week biglang magtaas [if by next week we see a sudden increase] that's the time that we are going to decide and it's going to be the IATF to decide," she said.
The DOH official reminded the public to remain vigilant.
