Five people were injured while no fatalities were recorded following the magnitude 6.3 earthquake that hit Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan on Tuesday night, September 13.

According to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) report, two of the injured persons sustained brain trauma and head concussions, while the remaining three suffered minor injuries. These reports are still awaiting validation.

Meanwhile, two houses were destroyed but there was no damage to infrastructure, and displaced individuals have been reported so far, the OCD added.

The OCD Region II and the Cagayan and Isabela Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMCs) are still monitoring and assessing the effects brought by the earthquake.

Some Calayan residents spent the night outdoors or in evacuation centers after the earthquake.

Classes have also been suspended in Calayan to check the integrity of structures in the municipality.

According to the OCD, assistance is ready and waiting to be given to the impacted residents.
