Police arrested five suspects involved in the New Year's Day robbery of a mall in Ozamiz City, Occidental Mindoro.
As per reports, the suspects entered the mall at 3:00AM on Monday, January 1, through a hole that they dug underneath the sewer network of the building.
Police said that the suspects stole more than Php 30 million worth of jewelry items and cash.
Meanwhile, PMaj Joann Navarro, spokesperson of Northern Mindanao Police Regional Office, believe that the perpetrators planned the robbery for days.
Navarro shared that the suspects work at a fair that opened near the mall as early as the first week of December.
"Tinitignan natin na baka ilang araw ito trinabaho. Meron pa na ginagawang surveillance kasi nakita natin na well planned talaga yung execution," Navarro said on Thursday, January 4, during Magandang Umaga Pilipinas.
While the police did not identify the suspects, Navarro revealed that three of them came from Misamis Occidental, while the remaining suspects came from Zamboanga Del Norte and Zamboanga Del Sur.
The suspects face charges for robbery.
